Viewing and managing inpatient visits
You can view and manage a patient's visits from Patient Detail > Patient admin > Show pathways > Inpatient. This includes inpatient visits, visits as a ward attender, visits to an assessment area, visits to SDEC, and visits to a virtual ward.
Viewing and managing inpatient visits on a mobile
You can't do this on a mobile.
Viewing and managing inpatient visits on a desktop

You can view and manage a patient's visits from Patient Detail > Patient admin > Show pathways > Inpatient. This includes inpatient visits, visits as a ward attender, visits to an assessment area, and visits to a virtual ward.
Current Inpatient Stays and Awaiting Outcome |
Shows the patient's current visit, and any previous visits you need to record an outcome for.

Discharged Inpatient Stays |
Shows previous visits. |

Inpatient |
A visit to an inpatient ward that is scheduled or an emergency. |
Inpatient (Emergency) |
A visit to an inpatient ward that is unplanned, for example, a visit after attending UEC. |
Assessment |
A visit to an area for initial assessment or planned review. The patient doesn't stay overnight. For example, patients visiting medical assessment units, GP assessment units (GPAU), or Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC). Your organisation decides how they use assessment units in Nervecentre. |
Ward Attender |
A visit to an inpatient ward during the day. The patient doesn't stay overnight. |
Virtual Ward |
A visit to a virtual ward. |

From Inpatients > Patient List > double-click on a patient's name > Patient Detail, select Patient admin.

Select Show pathways > Inpatients.

You can view information about a patient's current or previous visits. You can view a patient's ward stays, consultant episodes, and visit history.

From Inpatients > Patient List > double-click on a patient's name > Patient Detail, select Patient admin.

Select Show pathways > Inpatients.

Select next to an inpatient visit.
You can:

Edit and cancel an inpatient visit

Add and edit ward stays
-
Add and edit bed transfers in a ward stay
-
Add and edit consultant episodes
-
Add and edit specialty changes in a consultant episode

At the end of a visit, you can record the outcome of that visit.

From Inpatients > Patient List > double-click on a patient's name > Patient Detail, select Patient admin.

Select Show pathways > Inpatients.

Select the patient's current inpatient visit.

Select Outcome.
A form appears.

From Outcome, select an outcome.
More options appear. These options depend on the outcome you chose.

Select options until Continue appears.

Select Continue.
What appears next depends on the options you chose.
One of the following appears:

Future Activity
You must decide what happens to other activities related to the inpatient visit.

Actions Taken / Required
Shows any actions Nervecentre has automatically done. For example, added the patient to a PIFU list or waiting list.
Shows any actions you need to do before you can record the outcome. For example, list a procedure, or book an appointment.

No Actions Required
Appears when you don't need to anything other than record the outcome.

Select Complete Outcome.

Optional: depending on the outcome you selected, you can send letters about that outcome.
For example, you might need to send letters when you place the patient on a PIFU pathway, or add them to a waiting list.

Select a correspondence option to change who the letters are sent to.
To not send the letters, select None.
The options you see depend on your organisation.

Select Click to preview letters.
The letters appear in your organisation's PDF viewer.
A list of letters appears on the right. This shows the recipient of each letter and how the letter is delivered. For example, 'GP - MESH' or 'Patient - Manual print'.

Select Send.
